The Search for the Best Breakfast in Great Falls: Family Affair revisited

Bacon and cheese omelet at the Family Affair

After two less than stellar breakfast experiences in a row it was time to play it safe. And no place is safer for a good breakfast than the Family Affair restaurant at 26th Street and east end of IGA/Snyder’s Drug strip mall down there by 7th Ave No.

I played it even safer by getting my old standby. All the braekfast items here are good. But my favorite is the bacon and cheese omelet, just stuffed with tasty bacon and topped with cheese and generally cooked to perfection. (Okay, maybe something other than a slice of American would make it even better. I must remember to ask next time.) Today’s was good as always, the hash browns were also done just right with a hint of crispiness, and the marbled rye toast was good too. Coffee a little on the weak side, but here you don’t pay extra for coffee, so kind of hard to complain.

The real highlight of this place besides the food is the friendly family atmosphere and the good service. Other people must like it too, as almost all the other customers seemed to be regulars chatting with the hosts, and had missed the place while the proprietors were off on vacation for the holidays.

Grand total for that tasty breakfast right there, $10.50 + tip, and that included the coffee. Good food, good atmosphere, good experience.

It’s kind of a small place with just maybe 10 tables, and very busy every time I have been, so word to the wise – pick your days/times.
