Tragedy has struck Great Falls. The 5th Street Diner is closing. Apparently the landlord, perhaps hoping to cash in on the current popularity of that 5th Street and Central intersection, decided the space was worth a lot more rent than the Diner proprietors were willing to pay. So the proprietors decided it was time to retire.
Thus I, along with many fellow customers, decided it was time for one last visit. The place was jammed this Friday morning, reminiscent of the last days of the Burg on 10th. The people working the counter said it had been even busier in the days before my visit.
The breakfast, as usual, was excellent.
Update: 11/20/19 – The space is still sitting there empty, more empty business spaces being the #1 growing sector of the economy of Great Falls.
